The only memorable one was the Nvidia driver. Windows Update is pretty good at grabbing the firmware, drivers, and updates. This new installation will be your "factory settings" as in another of the new partitions the installation creates is the recovery partition. Once you reach the OOBE, everything should be okay. If an error occurred before you reach the OOBE, the installation should roll back and you should be left with what you had before. This should be one of the reasons during the installation phase, the computer reboots to validate the newly written boot partition. I guess my last tip is to keep the SB2 plugged in the entire time.ĭon't quote me on this, but it is my understanding that when you are "deleting" the partitions during the installation phase, it is not actually deleting anything, but rather marking them for deletion until deemed okay. Follow the rest of the OOBE prompts to set up wifi, Microsoft account, other stuff. On the "choose a partition to install windows on" screen, I deleted all the partitions and created 1 new one to install Windows 11 and let the installer create the necessary other partitions. When your SB2 reboots into the USB, follow the on-screen prompts to do a clean install (keep no personal files). When the SB2 reboots into the advanced restart menu, click the option that allows booting from a USB. While the program is creating the bootable USB, it is a good time to make sure you have backups of all your personal files to onedrive or another harddrive, maybe make a list of all the programs you need to reinstall.Īfter the program is finished, go to Settings>Systems>Advanced Restart>Restart Now. ![]() Under "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" download the tool and follow the directions to create a bootable USB. ![]() Look up "media creation tool windows 11" and grab an empty USB drive 8 gb or larger. (Yes, I do miss that performance slider). ![]() It fixed my random app crashes and fan noise. I actually just did a fresh (I kept nothing) install of Windows 11 on my SB2 a few weekends ago.
